Slack

This guide explains how to connect Openlayer to a Slack channel, so your team gets notified about test results, new commits, and other project updates.

Connect Slack

First, click Settings at the bottom of the left sidebar. Then, under Workspace settings, click Notifications. The Slack channel notifications section has a Connect Slack button. Click Connect Slack. Slack opens in a new tab to authorize Openlayer. If you are not signed in to Slack, sign in to your Slack workspace first. Slack then asks you to choose the channel where Openlayer should post. Pick a channel and click Allow. After you authorize Openlayer, the Notifications page shows the connected channel. To post to a different channel, click Manage Slack integration, then Manage next to the channel. To stop sending notifications to Slack, use Disconnect Slack on the same page.

Choose which updates are sent

Once Slack is connected, the Notification settings section lists the updates Openlayer can send to the channel, grouped into three tables:

• General: a data source is created, or a project’s lifecycle stage changes.
• Development: a new commit is pushed, test statuses are updated on a new commit, a development test is created, or a project’s deployment status changes.
• Monitoring: a test is updated after its evaluation window, a production test is created, or a reference dataset is uploaded.

Clear a checkbox to stop sending that update to the channel, or check it to start again. These are team-wide settings. To manage the notifications you receive yourself, use Personal notifications.
